Sarah's Note: On being lost...and asking for help

On being lost, because it’s such an easy and common sensation to fall into, yet such a crippling one: the feeling of uncertainty of where the next step should land, and the mire one wades through trying to gain clarity about that direction.

On asking for help, because depending solely on oneself is a sure way to get to lost.

We need others—for perspective, for direction, for a reflection of our own visions mirrored back, whether through understanding or miscomprehension.

And we need allies, because every leader needs followers, every business needs customers, every performance needs patrons, every soul needs friends. This can be the hardest of all; there’s nothing more humbling and yet more brave than asking others to jump on your bandwagon.

Whether you do it at Purpl or elsewhere, whether you do it through a class, through sharing your thoughts, through finding a home for your work, through participating in an experience, find yourself a network. And don’t be afraid to ask for help, even if you don’t think you need it. One day you will.

Over the next few months, you’ll be hearing more calls from us to support our work so we can continue to support yours. Stay tuned for new membership options, and see below for our first ever fundraiser that you don't want to miss.
